Lying, your way to fame

As we all know, the path to success is fraught with difficulties, as is the path to fame, which is fraught with lies.

In a recent study, it confirmed that false news spreads faster than the truth, according to researchers who confirmed that, contrary to the prevailing opinion, liars make more noise than truthful people.
The report published by the scientific journal "Science" is the most comprehensive and deals with about 126 topics on Twitter from 2006 to 2017.

Three million people retweeted these false news stories more than 4,5 million times.
To determine whether the news was false or true, the researchers relied on six independent organizations to verify the information.
The report, prepared by researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, wrote that fake news has a XNUMX percent greater chance of spreading than true news.
It takes true news six times longer to reach 1500 people than false stories to reach the same number.
Previous studies on the topic were limited to case studies or smaller samples.

The researchers said that false stories spread faster based on the "wit hypothesis" which assumes that people share such news because it is more surprising than real news.
The report said that fake news prompted responses on Twitter and expressions of surprise, fear or disgust.
As for the real, it evokes feelings of sadness, anticipation, joy and confidence.
The study also concluded that the amount of fake news on Twitter is on the rise and tends to increase during major events such as the 2012 and 2016 US presidential elections.
However, the promoters of this news do not seem to have large numbers of followers.

In fact, fake news promoters “had significantly fewer followers, followed significantly fewer people, were significantly less active on Twitter, were verified significantly less frequently and were on Twitter for a shorter time.” significantly.”
FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller focused on the use of bot accounts called "Bots" on Twitter in the investigation into Russia's alleged meddling in the recent US elections.
Mueller's office said the programs were used to sow discord in the American political system.
At the end of February, Twitter adopted regulations aimed at limiting the impact of bots on the platform.
