Mauritius announces easing of restrictions from May 1, 2021
Mauritius has announced an easing of confinement from May 1, 2021. No access permits will be required for work, and a number of public activities including outdoor physical exercise and use of public transport will be permitted. Beauty parlors, private medical and dental practices, veterinary practices and optometrists will also be allowed to resume their activities.
Restrictions are imposed on places that can include large public gatherings including gyms, cinemas, community centers, casinos, bars, discos, schools, restaurants, places of worship and other things.
Mauritius has been in quarantine since March 09, 2021, after the cases of COVID transmission that were detected, and the Mauritius authorities have noticed an improvement in conditions since then.
In a statement to the nation, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnoth urged residents to remain vigil and observe all precautions to prevent further spread of the virus.
The tourism industry will resume preparations for the planned reopening of borders in mid-2021.
