Among Attia’s controversial statements and fatwas is what he said that a man’s divorce to his stern wife is “mustahabb.” He also emphasized that the hadith “The most hated of what is permissible in God is divorce” is not true and cannot be invoked.

“Insults and false testimony do not invalidate the fast”
Dr. Mabrouk Attia also issued a fatwa that fasting means not approaching food, drink or sexual intercourse, and that if the fasting person utters insults or even false testimony, his fast is not invalidated as long as he does not approach eating!

“It is not permissible for a wife to spend the night with her family.”
Mabrouk Attia said, in a series of exciting fatwas, that it is not permissible for a wife to spend the night with her family as long as her mother is not sick and does not take care of her, and that it should be taken into account that she has become married and is responsible for her husband, and her overnight stay with her family without reason is not permissible.

At the height of the global spread of the Corona epidemic and the increasing number of deaths as a result of its complications, Mabrouk Attia made statements that also sparked controversy, as he considered that the epidemic was a “divine punishment,” and that the dead in Corona were not “martyrs” but rather revenge and the worst death, and likened the victims of disasters and epidemics to “the people of Lot.” !
The fatwas and statements of Mabrouk Attia did not stop in the field of religion only, but extended to other fields such as sports and art, where he commented on the news of the divorce of Egyptian businessman Ahmed Abu Hashima and artist Yasmine Sabry, a matter that occupied the attention of pioneers of social networking sites in Egypt for a while.
