Where do birds sleep?
Birds typically practice “infinite sleep,” which means they rest half of their brain at once, which makes it a semi-sleep. But they are still at great risk of predation.
Strategies to reduce opportunities include eating and resting on water or islands free of predators, drying out in dense shrubs or tall trees, or hiding in cavities such as chimneys. Birds will often choose safety in numbers, flocking together in hundreds or even thousands.
