Armant Hospital in Luxor Governorate, southern Egypt, witnessed a rare birth of a slit neck.

Dr. Mohamed Ezz El-Din, head of the obstetrics and gynecology department at the hospital, revealed that a caesarean section was performed for a woman who came to the hospital suffering from fetal water loss and preeclampsia, and immediately the necessary tests were performed and a place for the mother was prepared.

 

He added that after the birth, the doctor, Muhammad Shukri, who performed the operation, noticed cracks in the child's skin, and therefore he was sent to the nursery for examination and diagnosis, and it was found that the case suffers from cracked skin syndrome and multiple abnormalities.

Abnormalities due to medication

The head of the obstetrics and gynecology department at the hospital confirmed that this case has not happened before, and that it is a rare case, which may often occur as a result of the mother taking certain medications that in turn lead to deformities for the child, especially at the beginning of pregnancy, as the child was born with skin cracks that increase with his movement, resulting in Some wounds, some of which caused a cut in the neck that resembled a case of slaughter, indicating that the child breathed his last 24 hours after his birth.

It is noteworthy that the hospital witnessed before one of the rare cases of the birth of children, where a child came out of his mother's womb after 7 months of pregnancy with one eye and congenital defects of the brain, heart and lung.

Dr. Mohamed Ezz El-Din, head of the women's department at the hospital, said that the rare case of the child is medically known that he cannot live more than 24 hours after his birth with these congenital defects, which is what happened as he died shortly after his birth.
