 One song, which was enough to introduce the world to a region of enchanting beauty, was hiding among the poor houses and among the hundreds of islands that the media denounced a long time ago.

Costa Rica is a country in Central America, bordered on the north by Nicaragua, on the east by the Caribbean Sea, on the west by the Pacific Ocean, and on the south by Panama. It was occupied by the Spaniards in the year 971 AH – 1563 AD, and became independent in the year 1237 AH – 1821 AD, and was taken over by Mexico in the year 1239 AH – 1823 AD, as it was part of the Central American Union, and then separated in the year 1239 AH – 1848 AD. Indians were the first to live in what is now Costa Rica. Little is known about the lives of these residents. By the beginning of the eleventh century, however, the Kurobesi tribe settled in the northern valleys, while the Boruka tribe migrated to the lands to the south. The Caribs, Shurotega, and Nahau Indians arrived in the XNUMXth century. Most of the Indians subsisted by growing crops and hunting small animals.

Christopher Columbus arrived in Costa Rica in 1502 AD. Rumors of gold in the area tempted hundreds of Spaniards to go to the new land.

The Spaniards found few mineral wealth. But many of them settled and became farmers in the central highlands. Governor Juan Vazquez de Coronado established the first permanent settlement in Cartago in 1564 AD. Many Spaniards tried to enslave the Indians, but most tribes fought fiercely to maintain their freedom.

Costa Rica remained a Spanish colony until 1821. That year, Costa Rica and the other Spanish colonies in Central America were freed from Spanish rule, and joined the Mexican Empire the following year. In 1823 the Latin American countries withdrew from Mexico and formed the United Provinces of Central America. The union began to collapse in 1838 and Costa Rica declared its independence.

Costa Ricans enjoy spending their free time outside their homes; Many of them play football, the national sport, on local stadiums. Basketball, tennis, and swimming are popular sports among Costa Ricans as well. Many Costa Ricans take part in lively festivals on religious holidays, with bullfighting, fireworks, and masquerade parades attracting thousands of Costa Ricans and foreign tourists to San Jose during the Christmas festivities.

Many Costa Ricans and tourists from other countries enjoy visiting the national parks in Costa Rica. The national park system includes sandy beaches where wild turtles lay their eggs, tropical rainforests inhabited by colorful monkeys and birds, and several active volcanoes.

The mountains extend in the center from the northwest to the southwest, and they consist of three chains, namely (Cordillera, Central Chain, and Talmansa). And moisture in the low areas, and the climatic conditions are moderate on the heights, and heavy rains fall on the low plains.

A group of mountain ranges called the Cordillera (meaning the mountain ranges) cross central Costa Rica from the northwest to the southeast. The mountain ranges divide the country into three beautiful regions.
