Beware of hair-smoothing products.. they cause cancer
A recent medical study conducted by the National Institutes of Health in the United States warned of the dangers of products used to soften and straighten hair, as they cause women to develop cancer, specifically uterine cancer.
The study, whose results were published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, said that women who use chemical hair straightening products are more likely to develop uterine cancer than those who do not use these products.
The researchers found no association between other hair products that women reported using, such as hair dyes and perms, and the risk of uterine cancer.
The researchers pointed out that hair-straightening products that contain chemical compounds such as parabens, bisphenols and formaldehyde, may contribute to an increased risk of uterine cancer, according to the UPI news agency.
The study included data from 33497 American women, aged between 35 and 74, and found that only 1.64% of those who have never used hair straighteners will develop uterine cancer by the age of XNUMX.
