Lebanon is one of the few centers in the Middle East equipped to practice all kinds of winter sports, especially skiing, in the snow season, which usually extends from December to April, which is roughly equivalent to the same season in the Alps.
Seven winter tourist resorts annually attract a number of Arab and foreign tourists, in addition to the Lebanese.

However, Faraya's location near Beirut, which enables its pilgrims to ski and return to the capital on the same day, makes it a destination for tourists more than the rest of the regions. Everything in Faraya bears the title of snow and in different languages, from the boards of shops selling and renting ski equipment to the taxi that takes tourists and visitors from the hotel to the ski rink, hotels and snack shops.

Faraya contains 42 slopes and 18 rinks suitable for skiing even at night, and is suitable for all levels of skiers. An hour and a half away from Beirut, a trip for ski enthusiasts arrives in Faraya, which is one of the most attractive areas for tourists, as it rises above sea level between 1850 and 2465 meters, and it is 46 kilometers from the capital. Its heights are characterized by the warmth and brightness of the sun, in addition to the quality and thickness of the snow, which sometimes reaches three meters during the ski season.

There are a variety of sports available to the pioneers, with various means of entertainment, such as “Ski-do” and “Snomobil”, which are vehicles for rapid transit across the ice, and “Telesig” that transports tourists to the peaks.

In Upper Faraya, specifically at the site of Al-Mazar, skiers from the age of 14 are often practicing skating to the tunes of music. The site includes a snow park, which is more like a nursery for children, equipped with the latest educational and entertainment tools, to move them from the stage of playing on the snow to the stage of practicing skiing. The park is open from eight in the morning until two in the afternoon, allowing parents to skate with confidence in their children.

Raclette is also widespread, and weekly short or long walks are organized for hiking enthusiasts, who wear special shoes equipped with belts tied to the foot so that the owner is not exposed to the risk of slipping on the snow. Luxurious restaurants and chalets are spread in the Faraya-Al-Mazar area, providing thousands of luxurious rooms and comfortable accommodation in a warm atmosphere in which it is pleasant to spend nights around the stoves, and it serves international delicacies from sushi to fondue, passing through the Lebanese village meals.

A visitor to Faraya cannot return before visiting Faqra, which is about ten minutes away, and about 1975 meters above the sea. In Faqra, there is the most prestigious winter resort, which is Club Faqra, which includes about 350 chalets with large areas. The club enjoys a view of Beirut and the beach, and it also includes private skating rinks, and the height of the slopes ranges between 1765 and 1980 meters, and they are divided to suit the different levels of skaters.
The Cedars Resort is distinguished by its location, about 2800 meters above sea level, and the length of the ski season in it, and thus its ability to host skiers for a longer period extending from early November to late April in most cases. The resort includes four skating rinks and a lot of sports and skating races that add an atmosphere of fun to its activities. The weekly rate of visits to the resort is 400 cars, while it rises during holidays and official occasions to about 5 cars. The resort works to provide services to skiers such as training, supervision, equipment and clothing for skiing and other requirements.
