A wonderful selection of unique gourmet experiences during the Dubai Food Festival

 

Gourmets and lovers of exceptional culinary experiences will have an unforgettable experience with the most delicious dishes and unique flavors, during the “Journey into the World of Tastes” event, one of the activities of the Dubai Food Festival 2021, organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Corporation between March 25 and April 17, 2021.

host the festivalThe third edition of the “Journey into the World of Tastes” event, which takes place over 24 days, includes cooking lessons, the chef’s table, in addition to unique experiences in the culinary world.

This year we are proud to host a wide range of unique gourmet experiences – from meeting the chefs creating their own creative touches, to dining al fresco under the stars in the desert, for everyone to enjoy a variety of experiences that cater to their tastes.”

The "Journey into the World of Tastes" program includes more than 18 unique opportunities divided into three main categories: cooking classes (Master Class), the chef's table and tasting experiences. Some of these events are held for one night only and for a limited number of participants. Among the experiences available in the program are the following:

Cooking Classes (Master Class)

Diba Bay Oysters Restaurant in Jumeirah: Delicious seafood at Diba Bay Oysters

التاريخ: March 25, 1 and 8 April

Participants will be introduced to a local shell farm in the United Arab Emirates and learn how to open shells in the unique Diba Bay Oyster experience, which takes place in an amazing setting at sunset at the fishing port. The experience includes a lesson on how to open shells, a workshop on growing local shells, and tasting the most delicious shells. Participants will receive their own shell-opening knife for use at home, as well as a 25 percent discount on purchases that day.

The Dubai Shopping Festival markets offer its goers a unique set of unique experiences​

 

 The event will be moderated by Rami Murray, founder of Diba Bay Oysters. It is worth noting that Depa Bay is the first shellfish farm in the Middle East that produces premium shells and oysters for gourmets.


Masterclass Series: Everyone Can Learn Asian Cooking

Date: 27 and March 31

Fans of Far Eastern dishes known for their distinct colours, flavors and taste, who enjoy hot ramen or perfectly prepared sushi, can take advantage of the advanced series of Asian cooking lessons in online virtual classes. Participants learn how to make three dishes of Thai, the right way to eat Asian noodles or serve sushi like a professional Japanese-style chef - all while at home using standard kitchen utensils.

Fulia: Live Cooking Show with Chef Matthew Kenny

Participants in this show can enjoy watching it while they are at home, as they join celebrity American chef Matthew Kenny in a live cooking show focusing on vegetarian dishes. Chef Kenny's signature dishes are served at Folia Restaurant at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach.

Boca: Cooking class and Spanish paella with a professional chef

Date: 4, 5, 7 April

Celebrity Chef Vicente Rioja, who has roots in Valencia, Spain, visits Dubai to collaborate with Chef Matisse Steinsen at Buca to create refreshing paella recipes with fresh local ingredients and flavors inspired by Emirati cuisine. Boca will host a series of paella cooking classes, as well as a private dinner with Chef Vicente, chef and owner of the restaurant. Rioja de BenissanóIt was founded in 1924 and is famous for making the best traditional paella in Valencia.

Brasserie Boulud: Virtual Cooking Class with Chef Daniel Bouloud

Chef Daniel Boulud, owner of the first Brasserie Bouloud restaurant in the Middle East, is one of America's leading chefs and is known for his modern take on classic French dishes. The chef is hosting an exclusive 60-minute virtual cooking class to prepare a delicious French meal that participants can enjoy at home. In partnership with Classic Fine Foods, all participants receive a box of ingredients that they will use during the lesson.

Mina Brasserie: Interactive dinner with Chef Michael Mina

Gourmets participating in this event experience an interactive meal at the Mina Brasserie, the trendy and vibrant restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel Dubai International Financial Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy Chef Mina's finest selection of French dishes that will undoubtedly remain in their memories for a long time.

Boca: The Chef's Table

Date: 25 and 26 in March, 29, 30, March 31, 1 and 2 April

If you want to check out the evolving cooking methods of the United Arab Emirates, don't miss the amazing taste menu created by Chef Matisse Steinsen, created for the winter and spring of 2021 at Bukka Restaurant. The meal includes six dishes to share and celebrates the rich, authentic heritage of the country and the harmony between sand and sea by combining dishes made from local vegetables, organic meat and seafood that abound in the Arabian Gulf.

Taiko Dubai: Chef Shiloh's Table

A chance to discover the dazzling creations and elaborate preparation of innovative dishes presented by Chef Shilo van Corvorden, Executive Chef at Taiko Restaurant Amsterdam, as he combines Middle Eastern influences to create contemporary Asian dishes on an innovative and deeply inspiring menu. This high-end event will be limited to only registered participants, who will be prepared by Taiko Dubai with a personalized interactive experience around a robata grill.

Huna: Elemental - Five classes, five components

Date: 7, 8, 9, 10 April  

The Huna Hotel is hosting the “Elemental” event, an experience that takes participants on a multi-sensory gastronomic journey. The meal includes five dishes representing the five basic elements of the universe, from water, which is the lowest point, to space, which is the highest point, where these lessons are presented by Chef Brianch from “The Brunch Kitchen”.

Chow Patisserie with Chef Pierre Ganger: Afternoon tea experience

Date: daily From March 25 to April 10

Experience the refined Parisian life with a selection of delectable dishes prepared by Chef Pierre Ganger, awarded three Michelin stars, along with afternoon tea. The award-winning meal includes a selection of mini sandwiches, delicious pastries and mouthwatering cakes with a Parisian twist.

Pai Thai: The Five Tastes of Thai

Date: daily From March 25 to April 10

A sensory journey to Thailand with the Five Tastes of Pai Thai on a five-course tasting menu accompanied by appropriate beverages, overlooking the beautiful waterways of Madinat Jumeirah. The exclusive menu explores five main flavors of Thai cuisine: bitter, salty, spicy, sour and sweet.

Platinum Heritage: An upscale experience in the heart of the desert

Date: 25, 26, March 27 and 8, 9, 10 April

This experience gives the opportunity to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy in the heart of the desert, so that the participants experience an authentic Arabic meal, during which they enjoy the comfort of spacious tents lit with candles and surrounded by the aromas of food preparation by the expert chefs on site. The Platinum Heritage's six-course deluxe dinner begins with canapes at sunset and continues throughout the evening for an unparalleled feast prepared with the freshest local ingredients.

Mirzam Chocolat: a classy tea session

This experience takes participants on a journey that takes participants from the usual tea-time snacks to a tour of the spice path, through a unique menu of options on three levels offered by the “Marzam” specializing in the chocolatier from scratch and the Asian specialty store “1004 Gourmet”. It invites participants to get ready to explore exciting new flavors that they have not tried before thanks to their rare ingredients, in a diverse experience that mixes ingredients such as steamed Asian pancakes, matcha chocolate cake, yuzu white chocolate with truffles and an array of limited-edition chocolate drinks - plus tea, of course, and plenty of surprises.

Sonara: One of the stories of the Thousand and One Nights

For those looking for a wonderful adventure with an authentic Arab character that captivates the senses and gives it a wonderful story told over and over again, they can head to the Sonara desert camp, located in the midst of the sand dunes, which is the ideal destination for lovers of learning about diverse cultures and enjoying a unique adventure. The evening includes a dance show, camel riding, sand boarding, a number of traditional sports such as archery, and many fun activities for all ages, in addition to an amazing fire show and movie scenes under the lights of the stars. The adventure concludes with tasting special dishes from exclusive menus prepared especially for the Dubai Food Festival. On the way to their destination, participants also cross the Dubai Desert Reserve, which is the home of gazelles and oryx in the UAE.
