Shwikar Ibrahim Tob Thiqal was born on the twenty-fourth of November 1938 to a Turkish father and a Circassian mother. Her grandfather's nickname is "Tob Thiqal", a Turkish title that was given to people of high rank, as her great-grandfather came to Egypt during the days of the Ottoman rule and worked as an officer in Muhammad Ali's army.
