In this regard, the Russian hepatologist, Dr. Dmitry Monakhov, revealed that the phenomenon of drowsiness during the day and insomnia at night may be a sign of liver problems, according to a report by the Russian “Novosti” news agency.

He explained in a television interview, "What worries the patient? This is the well-known asthenic vegetative syndrome; Weakness, lethargy and weakness. These signs appear in the form of drowsiness during the day and insomnia at night, and they indicate liver problems.”

He added, "Other signs, such as yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes, nausea, vomiting, and pain in the right side below the rib, indicate liver problems."

The report stressed that the function of the liver lies in the process of digestion and ridding the body of toxins, and liver function disorders occur as a result of several factors such as viruses, alcohol abuse or obesity that results in fatty liver disease, in addition to other genetic factors.

Over time, conditions can lead to liver damage that leads to liver failure, a life-threatening condition.

Also among the signs of liver disorders are swelling in the legs and ankles, dark urine, loss of appetite and easy bruising.

In addition, the Russian doctor recommended the need to follow the Mediterranean diet to preserve and protect the liver, take omega-3 and polyunsaturated fatty acids, and practice physical activity to avoid drowsiness during the day and maintain liver health.
