Why is it possible that we do not take advantage of the fruit?

1. Eat fruit right after a meal

While the concept of dessert may be tempting, eating fruit immediately after a meal can hinder proper digestion. Fruits are rich in enzymes and simple sugars that require a different set of digestive processes than the proteins and complex carbohydrates found in a regular diet.

And when fruits are eaten immediately after a heavy meal, they can get stuck in the stomach, causing bloating and discomfort. So to improve digestion, it is best to enjoy fruits on an empty stomach or wait at least 30 minutes after a meal.

2. Drink fruit juices

Fruit smoothies can be comforting and tempting, but it's important to know that these drinks lack the fiber found in whole fruits.

When fruits are juiced, their natural fibers are often removed, leaving behind a concentrated source of sugars. This can lead to a rapid rise in blood sugar levels, affecting energy levels and potentially contributing to weight gain over time.

3. Eat fruits stored for long periods

Refrigeration is undoubtedly a great way to extend the shelf life of fruits, but cutting them and leaving them in the fridge for too long can lead to a loss of flavor and nutrients.

Some fruits, such as bananas, can suffer a decrease in taste and texture when stored at cold temperatures. Prolonged exposure to low temperatures can also degrade some vitamins.

4. Eat fruits at night

Although fruits are a healthier option than most snacks, eating them right before bed may not be the best idea. Fruits are a source of natural sugars, and eating them in the evening may cause blood sugar levels to rise just before bed, which can disrupt the sleep cycle.

And if a person wants to snack at night, they can choose a small portion of protein-rich foods, such as nuts or Greek yogurt, which can help stabilize blood sugar levels and support restful sleep.

5. Drink water immediately after eating the fruit

Staying hydrated is essential, but timing is important when it comes to consuming water after eating fruits. Drinking water immediately after eating the fruit can dilute stomach acids and digestive enzymes, which are essential for digesting foods.

It can also slow digestion and lead to bloating. So it is better to wait at least 30 minutes after eating fruits before drinking water to ensure proper digestion.
