When does your skin age?

Protection for all ages:

It's not ridiculous to think about anti-aging since your twenties, the key to maintaining youthful skin in your fifties is to start early when your cheeks are still glowing. And if you are in your late twenties, you can use some treatments to combat the early signs of aging. As the days go by, you will have to add more treatments for advanced signs of aging. Here is an action plan for your age:

At the 20th:
When you're in your twenties, your skin is better than ever, and although you don't have to worry about long-term skin care, this is when your cosmetic flaws appear: freckles, large pores, small wrinkles.
It is important in your twenties, and at any age, to adequately protect your skin from the sun. The results of the sun damage you get in your twenties won't show until your late thirties or forties. So even if you don't see visible damage to the skin now, it will appear later. Preventing it now is much easier than combating it later.

Along with a good skin care regimen, you can boost the radiance of your skin by performing light chemical peels and crystal peels.

At the 30th:
When you are in your thirties, you will begin to realize that you, too, will grow old. Your skin doesn't regenerate as quickly as it normally does due to diminished collagen and a buildup of damaged connective tissue, causing some fine lines and the first wrinkles to appear. You may notice a significant decrease in skin hydration, as well as the first signs of sagging near the eyes. Other common problems at this age are wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes, wrinkles on the forehead, and the first signs of fine lines around the mouth. You may also develop brown spots and pigmentation.

If signs of aging are not very visible, you can use gentle surface-leveling techniques. You can also find creams dedicated to this age, and use Botox injections, soft tissue filling products, and chemical peels to treat visible lines.

At the 40th:
In the forties, the deterioration of the skin continues, as the skin tends to dry out and develop more wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, and its texture becomes more coarse than before, the size of the pores and age spots increase, the eyelids swell, and the skin around the eyes and cheeks begins to sag.

Consider using laser skin resurfacing treatments, lasers designed to treat brown spots, and medium-strength chemical peels when needed.

• At 50 and beyond:
Unless you've taken good care of your skin in the past decades, your skin is likely to become uneven, pigmented, sagging worse, dark circles under the eyes, lots of wrinkles and fine lines. The best way to tackle these problems is to combine a number of different treatments. Consult an experienced dermatologist to help you create an effective plan for your individual needs.

What to do and avoid in the field of skin renewal:

A daily skin renewal program is all about identifying the products that are most suitable for your skin and persisting in using them to get visible results. Seeing the full effect of any product takes time, sometimes up to 12 months. None of the products currently available are perfect and complete, but together they can produce significant effects. Finding the combination of smart treatments that suits your individual needs and using them for a sufficiently long time is very difficult. Here are some guidelines to help you get started:

• Start with AHAs and Retinoids:
If the signs of aging from sun exposure are starting to show, it's time to use products that contain alpha hydroxy acids or retinoids. Typical signs of aging caused by excessive sun exposure include: dull skin tone, age spots, spider veins, reduced skin hydration and damage to collagen and elastin fibers.

And alpha hydroxy acids can work magic on your skin. They balance uneven skin tone and make it look fresher and smoother. Regular use of exfoliators containing alpha hydroxy acids increases the thickness of the skin and reduces its sagging. It boosts collagen production, reducing fine lines and skin discoloration. It also improves skin hydration by drawing water from deep levels in the skin.

Retinoids are active forms of vitamin A that reduce sun damage. Tretinoin, a derivative of the family of retinoids, has significant anti-aging effects. The use of creams rich in it leads to enhancing the thickness of the skin and reducing the size of the pores.

• Use each product separately:
Don't use too many products at once. Start with one product and wait to see its effect. Then add another product to see if it makes a difference. When you add a new product, use it at different times of the day, different from when you used the first product. Do not layer products on top of each other on your skin.

• Do not combine products that contain irritating ingredients:
If you are using a product known to cause skin irritation, do not add another product that may have a similar effect without consulting a dermatologist. Some examples of products that may irritate the skin include those containing alpha hydroxy acids and vitamin C. These products have a great effect but you need to be careful when combining them.

• be patient:
Skin renewal is a slow process. You have to wait at least six months to see results, and sometimes it may take longer. Continue using the products even after you achieve the results you want. Perseverance is key to maintaining results.

Chemical peels:

Chemical peels are another solution that helps restore the beauty, smoothness, and youthfulness of the skin. It is a great way to radically improve the appearance of the skin, and unlike the treatment of Botox injections, the results of chemical peels are long-lasting. In fact, the effects of a medium-strength peel last about a year, and the effect of a deep peel may be permanent.

Chemical peels can be performed at three levels: light, deep and medium. They all use alpha hydroxy acids but the difference is in the level of concentration. The solution used for light exfoliation is only 35%, but most of the solutions used for this process are much stronger than over-the-counter beauty products that contain these acids.

• Light and medium peeling:
Light peels are excellent for temporarily relieving small wrinkles, dryness and roughness of the skin. To achieve visible results, you will likely need more than one treatment session. The effect does not last very long, but you can maintain the results by using products that contain alpha hydroxy acids that are available for home use.

Mild chemical peels do not require anesthesia and do not prevent you from carrying out your usual activities. You may suffer from some redness and flaking, but these symptoms do not last for long and as long as you are keen to provide adequate sun protection for the skin, you can return to work and practice your usual activities immediately.

Light and medium chemical peels last from 30 minutes to an hour. A medium chemical peel uses alpha hydroxy acids at a higher concentration of up to 70%. You will need to take a week off from work after the peel and you may experience unpleasant symptoms such as tingling and throbbing so you may have to take painkillers. However, medium chemical peels rejuvenate the skin on a larger scale. Moreover, it stimulates the production of new collagen so your skin will be tighter and wrinkles will improve a lot. The results will be visible and last about a year. Wrinkles around the outer corners of the eyes, light to moderate wrinkles, pimples, and pigmentation spots will either improve significantly or disappear completely. You may experience some swelling immediately after the procedure and there is a possibility of scarring if the acids are left on the skin for too long.

• Deep peeling:
Deep chemical peels are very powerful and have risks, and the risks and discomfort may outweigh the benefits. The procedure takes about two hours, and you will definitely need a pain reliever, two weeks off work and maybe a day or two in the hospital. For the first couple of days, you may need a liquid-only diet and speaking will be difficult. New skin will form within 7-10 days. It will be red at first and it will take several weeks for it to return to its normal color.
However, deep chemical peels are very effective in erasing wrinkles and treating other signs of sun damage. You will not need to repeat this treatment and the results will be permanent. Over time, you will have new wrinkles as part of the natural aging process, but you will enjoy the results for several years.
