A great combination to solve most health problems
Raw turmeric contains higher levels of curcumin, a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound. The raw form also retains more essential oils and nutrients, ensuring maximum potency and effectiveness for health benefits, such as improved digestion and immune support. The list of additional reasons to combine chia seeds and raw turmeric into your daily diet includes:
1. High fiber content
The combination of chia seeds and fresh turmeric can aid in weight loss by providing satiety and also helps in providing a healthy boost of nutrition that helps in replenishing lost nutrients. This is because chia seeds are an excellent source of dietary fiber, especially soluble fiber, which helps increase feelings of fullness and can reduce overall calorie intake and promote weight loss.
2. Omega-3 fatty acids
Chia seeds are a plant source of omega-3 fatty acids. Healthy fats help reduce inflammation and support metabolic health, which may contribute to weight loss.
3. Regulate blood sugar
Chia/turmeric drink can naturally help with better insulin management, because the combination of the two is associated with stabilizing blood sugar levels which can reduce food cravings, prevent overeating and help with better weight management.
4. Anti-inflammatory properties
Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound known for its powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Chronic inflammation has been linked to obesity and metabolic disorders, so reducing inflammation in the body may indirectly support weight loss efforts.
5. Improve digestion
Both chia seeds and turmeric can support digestive health. Chia seeds are known to promote regular bowel movements due to their high fiber content, while turmeric may help stimulate bile production and aid in digestion. Raw turmeric in particular is known for its stomach-soothing properties. Eating raw turmeric regularly helps prevent indigestion, promote gut health, and reduce inflammation in the digestive system, making it a valuable addition to a healthy diet for stomach health.
6. Promote metabolism
Some studies suggest that turmeric can help increase metabolism because it contains a bioactive compound called curcumin, which is linked to increased metabolism and fat burning. Curcumin boosts metabolism by promoting lipolysis, reducing inflammation, and improving insulin sensitivity.
7. Skin health
Turmeric has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for its skin healing properties. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects can help reduce acne, eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions, while promoting wound healing and preventing signs of aging.
Chia seeds are a good source of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, which are essential minerals for maintaining healthy bones and preventing osteoporosis. Chia seeds are also naturally gluten-free and suitable for people on gluten-free or vegetarian diets, providing a nutrient-rich alternative to grains and animal products.
Preparing the drink
The raw turmeric and chia seed drink ingredients can be prepared according to the following quantities:
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
1 small piece of chopped raw turmeric
3 cups of water
Honey or lemon juice
Then soak two tablespoons of chia seeds in a bowl with 4 tablespoons of water. Meanwhile, heat the rest of the water in a frying pan until it becomes warm.
Continue soaking the chia seeds for 10-15 minutes until they form a gel-like consistency.
After washing the turmeric well and removing the outer peel, the turmeric can either be grated or cut well into small pieces and then crushed slightly.
Finally, add lukewarm water to a large glass bowl, mix the turmeric and chia seeds, stir well, then add honey or lemon juice to enhance its effectiveness.
Turmeric tea can be made by boiling grated raw turmeric in water for 5-10 minutes until it acquires the antioxidants found in raw turmeric. When cooked, it is left to cool and then mixed with chia seeds when it is warm enough to drink.
