WhatsApp continues to enhance user privacy

The instant messaging platform “WhatsApp” is testing a new feature that allows users to completely hide “locked chats” from the application interface to enhance privacy.

According to what was observed in the latest beta version of the application, the application developers have added new options in the “Locked Chats” settings that allow users to hide them from the Chats tab.

The application also allows you to set up a secret code, which can be used to show locked chats again, by entering it in the search bar within the application.

Earlier this year, WhatsApp made it possible to lock specific chats within the application and prevent access to them except after verifying the user’s identity, and it is currently working on developing it by adding a new layer of protection by hiding them and restoring them with a secret code.

The “Lock Chats” feature moves a series of messages from the inbox to its own folder that can only be opened with the device’s password or biometrics such as a fingerprint. This feature also automatically hides chat content from notifications.

It is worth noting that the widely spread WhatsApp platform is already testing some security features, such as the feature of accessing the account using passkeys, as well as linking accounts to email, and others.

The platform already provides the feature of completely encrypting messages and calls between all parties to give users the greatest amount of privacy and prevent spying on them.

It is expected that the new feature will be made available to all users soon after its development and testing in the beta version is completed.
