A father kills his son in his bed and then commits suicide in Lebanon

A horrific crime shook the Lebanese town of Al-Khader, in the eastern district of Baalbek, at dawn on Thursday, when a man killed his 25-year-old son while he was in his bed, then committed suicide.
Social networking sites were encouraged to talk about the crime and to search for its details, especially since the reason that prompted Ahmed Odeh, who is in his fifties, to shoot his son Hussein in his bed, before he committed suicide, is still unclear.

According to narrators, a dispute arose between the father and his son over the latter's failure to join his military position, after he had been conscripted into the Lebanese army a short time ago.
The latest started with the father screaming and asking his son to go to his military station.
The father fired a hunting weapon at his son, who was still in bed at dawn, and shot him in the neck.
Within seconds, the father shot himself in the head, committing suicide.
"good biography"
In his account to the "Sky News Arabia" website, the witness indicated that "the father did not intend to kill his son, but rather wanted to intimidate him," especially since the family enjoys a "good reputation."
He continued: “The father was working in the construction field, and the behavior of the family and the father was known for his good conduct. The son’s failure to join his military service for 3 consecutive days is what sparked the controversy.”
Economic crisis and high crime rates
A report prepared by "Gallup" to measure public opinion in the world, 3 weeks ago, showed that the Lebanese are the most angry people on earth.
Analysts and experts in sociology have linked this to the crises that have hit Lebanon nearly 3 years ago, and led to the collapse of economic and financial conditions, and the escalation of societal tensions as well.
The new figures reveal a significant increase in crime and suicide rates in Lebanese society, in an alarming manner.
According to the data, published by the "Mission Network News" website, the number of murders recorded last July in Lebanon jumped by 68 percent compared to the same month last year.
The rate of increase in suicides during the same period was 42 percent, compared to what it was a year ago.
