Soft drinks cause death

The harms of soft drinks, it is certainly not the first time that you read about its damages From osteoporosis to stomach ulcers, a new study added to its serious damage, as the consumption of soft drinks, whether sweetened with sugar or artificial sweeteners, may increase the risk of premature death.
In a study that followed more than 400 European adults for more than 16 years, those who drank two or more cups of soft drinks per day had an increased risk of premature death, according to the report published in JAMA Internal Medicine.

"Our findings regarding the harms of sugar-sweetened soft drinks provide further support for the call to reduce consumption and replace them with other healthy drinks, preferably water," said study co-author Neil Murphy and a researcher at the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
"Regarding the harms of artificially sweetened soft drinks, we now need to better understand the mechanisms that may underlie this link and we hope a study like ours will stimulate these efforts."
The harms of soft drinks themselves may not be the basis for this link, Murphy said. He added that the new findings do not mean that soft drinks cause early death because "in these types of studies there are other factors that may be behind the link we observed... For example, high consumption of soft drinks may be an indicator of an unhealthy diet."
