On Wednesday, an Egyptian court ruled to accept the opposition of Egyptian artist Mohamed Ramadan, sentencing him to one year in prison on charges of spreading false news against a famous bank, and the court again acquitted him.

The Sheikh Zayed Misdemeanor Court of Appeal, south of Giza Governorate, had previously ruled that Mohamed Ramadan be imprisoned for one year in absentia on charges of promoting false news against a famous bank, and the competent authorities seized 6 million pounds from the artist’s account, in implementation of a final ruling to seize his money.

Ramadan’s lawyer, Ahmed Al-Jundi, argued before the court in accusing Muhammad Ramadan of spreading false news and defaming the bank, not accepting the criminal case due to the absence of the material and moral element of the crime, saying: “As it is proven from the papers that when the accused was informed by the bank employee that his money had been seized, he posted a video on... His personal page explains that the bank has seized his money from his bank account with the aforementioned bank.”

“My shoulder is my king’s meat.”

The lawyer added: The law has explicitly stipulated in Article 102 bis of the Penal Code that: “Anyone who intentionally broadcasts false news, data, or rumors if this would disturb public security or Spreading terror among people or harming the public interest.”

It is noteworthy that the artist Mohamed Ramadan said in a previous video of his, which he posted on his official account on the “Instagram” website: “I woke up today to a phone from the bank informing me that the state had seized my money, and my response to him was that I, my money, and the flesh of my shoulders belong to my country and to the people of my country. Oh God, no.” objection".

Ramadan continued: “Popular people like me, farmers and Sa’ida, who don’t put money in the bank, take money in their homes... hidden.”
