British broadcaster resigns, and the reason is Megan
Morgan had pulled out of the ITV show, after stepping up his criticism of Meghan in the wake of her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
After he lied to her, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, filed a formal complaint with the Communications Regulatory Authority in Britain, known as Ofcom, against British broadcaster Piers Morgan.
Ofcom confirmed that it had received the complaint officially regarding the comments of the presenter, "Good Morning Britain", on Markle's interview with the American presenter, Oprah Winfrey.
Morgan, 55, withdrew from the program, which is broadcast on ITV, after he escalated his criticism of Meghan in the wake of her interview with Winfrey, in which she said she contemplated suicide while living in Britain.
After his resignation, he wrote on Twitter: "On Monday I said I didn't believe Meghan Markle during her interview with Oprah. After a time to reconsider this opinion I still do not believe her. If you believe her, that's okay.”
He told his 7.8 million Twitter followers: “Freedom of expression is a principle that I would be happy to die for. Thanks for all the love and hate. I withdrew to spend more time with my opinions.”
In addition, he published with his tweet a picture of the British Prime Minister during World War II, Winston Churchill, with a quote on freedom of expression.
It is reported that during a two-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey, Megan stated that the royal family rejected her plea for psychological help, adding that one of the family members asked questions about the skin color of her expected child at the time.
The morning after the interview was broadcast on an American television channel, Morgan criticized Megan in his program, stressing that he did not believe a single word of what she said. On the next day, he withdrew in anger from his live program when a broadcaster with whom he was presenting the episode objected to his position. Later in the day, ITV announced that he had resigned.
