New statistics published recently revealed an increase in the number of people who die because of selfies, according to what was published by the newspaper "Daily Mail".

That study monitored 259 deaths due to selfies in the world between October 2011 and November 2017, an average of 43 people per year.

As for the causes that precede this frantic death race, they are drowning and falling from tall places.

In addition, men are ahead of women in this deadly selfie race, as the study showed that the death rate is higher among men, at a rate of seven out of every ten deaths, or about 73% of the victims.

On the other hand, to reduce this phenomenon, the scientists participating in the study suggested establishing no-go zones for taking selfies around the world, especially in dangerous places, to reduce deaths caused by taking selfies.

Study researcher Agam Bansal, from the All India Institute of Natural Sciences, said that taking a selfie in itself is not dangerous, but the human behavior that accompanies it, and added that individuals need to avoid risky behaviors.
