Sheikha Hind Al Qasimi: “Dubai International Fashion Week” kicks off with an innovative identity

Sheikha Hind bint Faisal Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Advisory Council and member of the Board of Trustees of the College of Fashion and Design in Dubai, and owner of Velvet HQ, the organizer of Dubai International Fashion Week, confirmed that choosing the new date came in response to the calendar of international fashion shows, and the organizer’s entry into new international contracts with the most famous and major designers. The role of international fashion design, which necessitated amending the date of the most important event, the first of its kind at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Sheikha Hind bint Faisal Al Qasimi pointed out that Dubai has turned into a regional beacon for innovation and design thanks to the keenness of its wise government to launch initiatives that support progress in the design industry and stimulate innovation. She said that preparations are underway with the partners in full swing in preparation for the launch of the strongest season of "Dubai International Fashion Week 2018," which will constitute a qualitative leap in the local and regional fashion industry. It will include many inspiring and innovative events and ideas, and highlight the latest regional and local fashion trends.

Sheikha Hind added: “We seek to place Dubai International Fashion Week on the list of the largest fashion events in the world, in addition to the events held in New York, London, Milan and Paris. And that it becomes a regular event fixed on the calendar of all creative people in the fashion industry, and they must participate in it, which supports our aspirations to enhance Dubai’s international position in this creative sector, as Dubai International Fashion Week 2018 presents the largest and most famous designers from the region in addition to designers from Europe, North America and South America, along with their counterparts in the United Arab Emirates and countries in the region.

She explained that many of the minute details were reorganized in this event, starting with the engineering of display platforms, lighting, and exclusive broadcasting via television channels, social media, and local and international media, which will have a large presence in this season.

For his part, Walid Atallah stressed that "Dubai International Fashion Week" will make a qualitative leap at the sector level in the UAE and the region, both in terms of organization and the network of partners participating in the event, adding that the design and fashion sector in the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries is the most active regionally in size. And qualitatively, as the most prestigious international companies are racing to open their stores in the active markets of the region, taking advantage of the strong demand for the latest international fashion trends and the high purchasing power.
