Salt is the cause of every illness and disease

Salt, after all the ills that salt causes, is a new bug and a new, more specific reason to reduce the use of sodium that can be hiding in bread, pizza, soup and a host of other foods.

A report from the National Academies of Sciences linked the recommended sodium reduction to a reduced risk of chronic disease.

The report, which can help guide policy makers, states that cutting back on sodium protects against chronic disease even if a person consumes more than the permitted limit of 2300 milligrams per day for most adults.

Previously, the limit was based on an index based on the range of adverse health effects of exceeding the daily salt intake.

The report indicated that it is the first recommendation within the diet to link salt with chronic diseases.
