A strange law prevented her from being saved

To all these strange events, the year 1881 witnessed the death of a royal, which shook the whole world, and the international newspapers reported at the time the news of the end of the Queen of Siam, which is now known as Thailand.

The death of this queen, who bore the name Sunanda Kumariratana surprisingly, as one of the strange laws in the country prevented her from being rescued, which resulted in her death in front of the eyes of a large number of attendees.

Queen Sanandha Kumarratana is the first wife of Rama V, King of Siam, who married several times during his life.

Rama V was considered one of the most prominent kings in the history of Siam, as the latter introduced many reforms, and succeeded in abolishing slavery during his reign, which lasted between 1868 and 1910.

After his marriage to Sanandha Kumarratana, King Rama V had a daughter, and was expecting a second child, as the Queen was pregnant on the day of her death in late May 1880.

On May 31, 1880, Queen Sanandha Kumarratana was on a trip to the royal summer residence Bang Pa-In outside the capital, Bangkok.

Cross the most important river in Thailand

In order to reach the place, it was necessary to cross the Chao Phraya River, which is the most important river in Thailand, which is why the Sanandha Kumariratana boarded a royal boat pulled by a second ship.

In the middle of the road, the royal boat capsized due to the strong currents, and the Queen subsequently fell into the river.

Through a surprising shot, Sanandha Kumariratana tried to survive by wrestling with the strong currents, before sinking and sinking to the bottom of the river, without getting any help during this period, as the royal guards, servants and the rest of the audience preferred to content themselves with watching their queen drown.

Ban the public from touching the royal family

The reaction of the attendees was also normal, because according to an old law in force in Thailand during that period, the public was prohibited from touching members of the royal family.

The Thai authorities strictly enforced this law, with anyone violating it receiving a death sentence.

Thus, following that tragic incident, Queen Sanandha Kumarratana passed away at the age of 19, so that Thailand lived in a state of astonishment.

On the other hand, King Rama V ordered the arrest and imprisonment of all those present during the Queen's drowning operation, after accusing them of failing to provide assistance!
