The launch of the activities of the third edition of Dubai Design Week

Dubai Design Week is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, in partnership with Dubai Design District (d3) and with the support of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.

The third edition of Dubai Design Week returns this year with a larger and more diverse program than before, thus enhancing Dubai's position as a global forum for design and creative industries. Its doors are free to all.

 And the scope of the activities of Dubai Design Week, established by the Art Dubai Group in 2015, is expanding to include this year's edition of more than 200 various activities across the city.
Downtown Design doubled in size to 150 participating brands in contemporary design from 28 countries in addition to launching 90 new brands during the events.
The Global Alumni Fair reinforces its position as the world’s largest and most diverse gathering of design alumni, to include this year 200 projects from 92 universities representing 43 countries.
The return of “Abwab” exhibition this year to display the work of 47 emerging designers from 15 countries in the region, providing the exhibition with a unique perspective on how to use modern design materials and techniques.

This year’s iconic city fair highlights the city of Casablanca in an exhibition titled “Loading… Casa” curated by Salma Lahlou and featuring works by five Moroccan designers, taking place as part of Dubai Design Week.

The Dubai Design District continues to host the activities of the week, to be a commercial forum for the event and an open museum for design.
Sir David Adjaye, one of the most influential architects in the world, participates in the program of dialogue sessions held on the sidelines of the Design Week activities, and will be interviewed by the Emirati commentator Sultan Sooud Al Qasimi.

Dubai Design Week occupies its distinguished position as a key factor in the development of the design scene in the region to bring the distances closer and gather local talents and experiences in this field. The area where the week brings together the various parties in the design sector in a distinguished program that includes more than 200 events, including exhibitions, artistic equipment, talks and workshops.
For his part, Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Design District (d3), expressed his happiness with this distinguished program, saying: “Dubai Design District is pleased to be the strategic partner for this year’s Dubai Design Week, which brings together the best designs from around the world to be the best representation. For our commitment in Dubai Design District to work to strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading global platform in the field of design in the region in addition to highlighting the Dubai Design District where creativity meets in this leading city.”

The week’s agenda aims to strengthen communication between international and local forums in the field of design and enhance Dubai’s position on the global creative map, in addition to providing a unique opportunity for visitors to the week’s activities to transcend the boundaries of fashion and learn about the spirit of creativity, talent and design that pushes the wheel of progress forward in Dubai.

William Knight, Director of Design Department, commented on the event, saying: “This year’s week’s activities reflect the creative and collaborative spirit that is unique to the city of Dubai, as we were pleased to work with many companies and individuals to offer attendees the largest event program of its kind in the region, where the events include a wide range of events. It is diverse in terms of content so that local and international visitors can explore the latest global trends in addition to the latest regional developments in the design arena in one of the world’s most ambitious and innovative cities.”
