Later, the poet offered his apology for the offenses he had committed against Umm Kulthum and the poet Ahmed Rami, saying, “Who am I to err against the woman of Arab singing, Umm Kulthum? And who am I to even criticize a poet about whom I wrote articles confirming my love and respect for his art and a professor for generations?”
