Young Artists Program kicks off again in Dubai

The Cultural Office of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the details of the sixth edition of the "Sheikha Manal Young Artists Program", under the patronage of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Emirates Council for Gender Balance and Chairwoman of the Dubai Women's Establishment, which will be held within the activities of the "Art Dubai" exhibition in Madinat Jumeirah, from 21 to 24 March.

This year, the program includes workshops and art tours for children and youth between the ages of 5 to 17, with the participation of international and local artists, in addition to organizing visits to several selected schools to hold art workshops in them as part of the “Artists in Schools” initiative.

The program, which is organized in partnership with Art Dubai, provides a unique educational opportunity for children and youth in the UAE, and motivates them to excel and create, as part of the commitment of the Cultural Office and Art Dubai to support the cultural and artistic scene in the country.

The Sheikha Manal Young Painters Program presents educational, experimental and innovative methods during workshops that will be held in schools and at the headquarters of Art Dubai, under the slogan “Giving Nature”, under the supervision of Japanese-Australian artist Hiromi Tango, where children participate in innovative artworks centered on local nature and its components. of local trees, plants and flowers.

Five novice artists will participate in the sixth edition of the program: Zahia Abdel, Fatima Afghan, Taqwa Al-Naqbi, Muhammad Khaled, and Melis Maltani. The program provides a unique opportunity for trainee and novice artists residing in the country to develop their skills and artistic career, by benefiting from working with “Heromi Tango.” “With its global reputation and experience in educating children and developing their skills, while providing a platform for the exchange of ideas, which also gives them the opportunity to lead some of the workshops during Art Dubai.

The sixth edition of the program will also witness exploration tours to get acquainted with the contents of the exhibition and to learn about a wide number of art forms that have been specifically designed to enable young children and youth to discover the main pieces of art in the exhibition. The tours are divided according to three age groups: (5-7 years). , (8-12 years old) and (17-13 years old).

The activities of the new session of the Sheikha Manal Young Painters Program will witness the implementation of the “Artists in Schools Initiative” on March 18, 19 and 20, during which art workshops will be presented on the topic “Giving Nature.” The initiative provides a unique educational opportunity for school children, and increases their passion for arts.

The initiative was met with positive response and an increase in the number of schools that will participate in it, which includes Jumeirah English School, Latifa School for Girls, Rashid School for Boys, Repton School, and Jumeirah Model School.

Al Maha Al Bastaki, Director of the Cultural Office of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, expressed her happiness at the increasing demand for participation in the program’s artistic workshops, exploration tours, and the initiative of artists in schools, saying: “The success achieved by the Sheikha Manal Young Painters Program during the past five years has contributed to an increase in The demand for participation in it during the new session this year by children and artists alike, which is a source of happiness for us, and motivates us to continue efforts and launch more initiatives that refine their artistic skills and develop their creative talents.”
