Forty years after his death, the consolation of Omar Khurshid raises questions

On May 29, 1981, the death of the famous musician and guitarist Omar Khorshid was announced in a mysterious traffic accident in the Haram area, south of Cairo. He passed away at the age of 36.

The details revealed at the time that an unknown car chased the late musician's car while he was walking on Haram Street next to the Mina House Hotel, and he was accompanied by his wife, Dina, and a famous late artist.

There were rumors that the accident was premeditated, as his wife and the famous artist revealed to the prosecution that the accident came because an unknown car chased after them until their car collided with a light pole, and the late musician was killed, while the perpetrator has not yet been reached, and the case was registered against an unknown person.

Yesterday, Friday evening, Ihab Khorshid, the brother of the late musician, announced that 40 years after the accident, he would mourn his brother today, Saturday.

The brother wrote a mysterious post on his Facebook page that sparked controversy over the relationship of a former senior official who passed away a few days ago to the accident of his brother's death.

Omar's brother revealed to the Arab News Agency that he will hold a funeral today at his home in the suburb of Heliopolis after the departure of the former senior official, who is believed to be involved in the death of the late musician.

Ihab Khorshid further explains and says that a senior official who passed away a few days ago was behind the tragedy that his brother, the musician Omar Khorshid, and his family and the entire family were exposed to, adding that the former official had many problems and mutual accusations between him and his family and used his influence to take revenge on all members of the family, including Omar Khorshid.

He adds that the late official was behind many rumors that affected his family and his brother, including the existence of an emotional relationship between Omar Khurshid and the daughter of a former senior official, noting that the accident of his brother's death was orchestrated because of those rumors.

He says that he wrote that post in order to announce to everyone that his brother's death was not natural but was deliberate, and the day came when he and the family could accept condolences.

It is noteworthy that the late musician Omar Khorshid was born on April 9, 1945, and his full name is Omar Muhammad Omar Khorshid.

He worked with great artists, most notably Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Farid Al-Atrash, Abdel Halim Hafez and Umm Kulthum, and began his cinematic work in the movie “My Dear Daughter” directed by Helmy Rafla in 1971, co-starring Najat Al-Saghira and Rushdi Abaza, and it was the first absolute championship. He had with the artist Sabah in the movie "Guitar of Love", with whom he participated in Miss World in 1971, Georgina Rizk.

Khorshid participated in the starring of more than one television show, including “The Fifties”, “Al-Ha’irah”, “The Dove”, “Revenge” and “Miss”, and produced the films “The Lover” and “The Wizard”.
