Makeup brush bacteria are worse than toilet bacteria

Women use makeup brushes on a daily basis to put cosmetics on their faces, but if these brushes are not cleaned regularly, they will be dirtier than imaginable!

A recent study revealed that more bacteria accumulated on used cosmetic brushes than on the toilet seat.

In the study, the team compared two sets of foundation brushes for the face, one clean and the other unclean, with a swab taken from the toilet seat, and the result was shocking, according to what was reported by the British newspaper “Mirror”.

The study also found that regardless of where the brush is stored, whether in the bedroom, bathroom, or even in the cosmetic bag, the number of bacteria present in the cosmetic brush is more than in the toilet.

Sampling results by Spectrum Collections revealed that all unclean makeup brushes contain dead skin cells, oils and putrefactive bacteria that can lead to fungal infections in the skin.

Periodic cleaning

Also, routinely using dirty brushes can lead to acne breakouts or worse for the complexion.

During the study, a beauty supply company surveyed its customers, and 40% of them said they clean their brushes every two weeks, while 20% admitted to only washing them every one to three months.

In addition, it is recommended to clean the makeup brushes periodically by washing the bristles of the brush with a gentle shampoo and lukewarm water, then they are dried with a clean towel, and they are left to dry.
