This update was highly requested by Threads users since the launch of the app, according to CNN.

Threads has been a huge success since its launch, with more than 100 million users in its first launch week, but engagement has dropped somewhat since then.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, owner of Threads and Facebook, said that there are 10 million people who return to the application daily, stressing that the focus is now on improving the application.

The latest update came among other updates launched by the company, on Tuesday, including automatic translation into the languages ​​​​selected by users, and seeing the publications that they liked in a group with each other.

The changes came after another set of updates, last week, that included a translation button and the option to subscribe and receive notifications from accounts the user doesn't follow.

Is “Threads” hijacking the advertising flow from “Twitter”?

Some analysts expect huge targets for advertising spending on Meta's "Threads" platform, with anticipation of its adoption rate by users, in a direct threat to billionaire Elon Musk's Twitter platform, according to "Reuters".

If the app can retain users, Bernstein said in a recent note, Threads could generate $5 billion in annual advertising revenue, which is equal to what Twitter earned in 2021.

“The unprecedented adoption of Threads now also gives Meta some material ideas to get excited about,” while cautioning that it is still early days and that other startups such as Clubhouse have fizzled out previously.

Morningstar analysts said on July 11 that Threads could add between $2 billion and $3 billion to Meta's revenue each year between 2024 and 2027. And Evercore ISI analysts predicted on July 9 that Threads could generate $8 billion in annual revenue by 2025, which is a fraction of the projected Meta revenue of $156 billion for the same period, according to Revitif.

Some analysts and officials in the advertising sector said, according to “Reuters”: “With the expectations of “Threads” booming, thanks to “Meta”’s deep experience in operating “Instagram” and “Facebook” successfully, and anticipating the eventual provision of advertising service through the platform, I began to think Some brands are already within the budget they will allocate for future marketing campaigns on the app.”

Taylor Michelle Gerrard, CEO of the content marketing company Blue Hour Studios, said that some of her clients are considering adding posts on “Threads” in addition to “Tik Tok” or “Instagram” posts as part of the deals she offers to influencers.

And once Threads ads are available, brands will “without question” move their ad spend off Twitter, said Matt Yanofsky, co-founder of Moment Lab, a brand marketing and advertising agency.

He added that some of his clients, without giving names, are already considering whether to add a budget for Threads ads later this year.

Launched on July 5th, Threads has become the fastest growing social media platform. On Sunday, Elon Musk said that Twitter will re-brand and change its logo to an X.

Threads saw downloads and engagement drop in the week after its tumultuous debut, according to research firm Sensor Tower.
