Apple launched its new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus series on Tuesday.

Apple President Tim Cook quickly mentioned Apple's upcoming Vision Pro mixed reality headset, which the company announced this summer. But he did not reveal any new details.

“The Apple team is making great progress with the Vision Pro, and we look forward to shipping early next year,” Cook said.

Apple will no longer use leather in its products, while it will use a new fabric called “FineWoven” made from 68% recycled materials to preserve the environment.

The advanced titanium-coated iPhone 15 Pro will come in black, blue and silver. Apple executives tout how light and thin the metal is, while also emphasizing the strength of titanium.

The harder titanium material will cover both iPhone 15 Pro models. Currently, they use aluminum, which is less durable.

During Apple's presentation, which is a pre-recorded video, the company said that both iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models include the Dynamic Island feature and an advanced camera system. The powerful 48MP main camera allows for high-resolution photos and a new 2x optical zoom option gives users three levels of optical zoom, as if they had a third camera.

Relying on Apple's satellite infrastructure, the satellite roadside assistance service can connect users to AAA if they encounter a car problem while outside the network.

With the A16 Bionic chip delivering powerful, proven performance, a USB-C connector, precise Where's My Friends finding, and industry-leading durability features, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus represent a leap forward.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be available in five new colors: pink, yellow, green, blue, and black. Pre-order will begin on Friday, September 15, and availability will begin on Friday, September 22.

Available in 15-inch and 15-inch models, iPhone 6.1 and iPhone 6.7 Plus support Dynamic Island, a way to interact with important notifications and live activities.

This experience seamlessly adapts to allow users to see the direction they need to take in Maps, and makes it easier to control music. The maximum brightness now reaches 1.600 nits for HDR-clear photos and videos. In the sun, the maximum outdoor brightness reaches 2.000 cd/mXNUMX, double the previous generation.

Camera

The advanced camera system in iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is 48MP, using a quad-pixel sensor and 100% Focus Pixels for fast lens autofocus.

Using computational photography capabilities, the main camera enables users to capture images at 24MP resolution in the new automatic mode, delivering accurate image quality in a practical file size convenient for storing and sharing.

Through intelligent integration of hardware and software, the 2x Telephoto option gives users three levels of optical zoom — 0.5x, 1x and 2x — for the first time in an iPhone dual-camera system.

A16 Bionic chip

The A16 Bionic chip in iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus delivers fast and efficient performance, supporting Dynamic Island and computational photography capabilities.

With two high-performance cores that use 20% less power, the new six-core CPU is faster than the previous generation and can handle performance-intensive tasks with ease.

The five-core graphics processing unit now features a higher memory bandwidth, for smoother graphics when playing videos and games.

The new 16-core Neural Engine can perform up to 17 trillion operations per second, enabling faster machine learning computations in features like live voicemail transcription in iOS 17 and third-party app experiences.

Communication capabilities

The iPhone 15 lineup offers convenient new ways to charge, find friends in crowded places, and stay connected while traveling. Both models use a USB-C connector, a globally accepted standard for charging and data transfer, so the same cable can be used to charge the updated iPhone, Mac, iPad, and AirPods Pro (XNUMXnd generation).

Users can also charge AirPods or Apple Watch directly from iPhone using the USB-C connector. 7 Both models support MagSafe and future Qi2 wireless chargers.

Both models come with a second-generation Ultra-Wideband technology chip, allowing two iPhones with this chip to communicate at three times the range of their predecessor. This allows the precise finding feature in “Where Are My Friends” to be used so iPhone 15 users can share their location and meet up even in crowded places.

Accurate Find is built with the same privacy protections as Where Are My Friends.

The models continue to deliver an enhanced audio experience on phone calls, including calls via FaceTime and third-party apps. Users can choose sound isolation mode to get clear sound, even when they are in noisy places.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus contain an eSIM, an alternative to a physical SIM, offered by more than 295 carriers.
