Telegram takes advantage of Facebook's crises and replaces it

It is not the first blow to the Facebook application, and it is still panting from the privacy crisis that it was recently exposed to, as Telegram delivered another punch to the famous face book. The period in which Facebook services, including its instant messaging applications Messenger and WhatsApp, as well as the photo-sharing service Instagram, experienced a first outage.

The announcement came from the founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, as he posted on his official channel within the service, saying: “I see 3 million new users who have subscribed to Telegram during the past 24 hours.”

He added, “Okay! We have real privacy and unlimited space for everyone.”

It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that Telegram has benefited from the misfortunes of Facebook and WhatsApp, as the service witnessed in late February 2014 a crazy turnout by users, after Facebook announced the acquisition of WhatsApp for $ 19 billion.

The comments of new Telegram users at the time showed that they chose the application as an alternative to the WhatsApp application, after they learned of Facebook's acquisition of it. Users were afraid of a lack of privacy after the instant messaging service moved to work under Facebook's management.

This is due to the notoriety that the social network has in this regard.

On the other hand, the Telegram application provides privacy for its users, as its two Russian developers confirmed when the application was first launched for Android and iOS in 2013 that their main goal was to turn the instant messaging service into a non-profit organization.

The developers aim to provide a secure service that does not offer ads or require monthly subscriptions from users, but primarily depends on their donations for continuity, in addition to the contribution of user specialists in the development process, as the application is open source.
The developers of Telegram stress, through the official application website, that the messages exchanged through the application are encrypted, and capable of self-destruction, in order to ensure that a third party who is not sending and the recipient of the message is not informed of it.

It should be noted that Telegram does not announce much about the number of its active users, but it announced in March 2018 that it has more than 200 million monthly active users, compared to 100 million in the fourth quarter of 2013.
