The Public Prosecutor’s statement revealed that the investigations proved the suffering of the student Shahd Ahmed, who was nicknamed “The Girl of the Nile” after the incident. Ismailia, she stayed with a friend of hers, in order to be close to her university.

He stated that a month before the death of the student, she returned to the same psychological crisis, which caused her insomnia, preventing her from sleeping more than two hours a day, and for the continuation of her suffering, she called her mother one week before her death and asked her to come to her, so her mother moved to live with her, and then presented her to a psychiatrist In the city of Ismailia on the fifth of this November, and during his examination of her, she told him that she had bad thoughts, and that one of those thoughts was that she would die, and he ended up suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The incident happened two weeks ago, when the Egyptian security services received a report that the body of a pharmacy student who had disappeared in Ismailia, eastern Egypt, had been found in the Nile in Cairo.

An Egyptian security source said that the girl’s father, Kamal Hussein Muhammad, a teacher and resident of the city of Arish in North Sinai, reported the absence of his daughter, and revealed that after she left the university on November 6, she did not return to her temporary residence in Ismailia, and he is not accused or suspected of her absence criminally. Adding that the absent student was published at the time, and the necessary record was released.

The security source stated that on November 7, the Al-Warraq Police Department in the Giza Security Directorate received a report that the drowned body of an unknown girl in the second decade of life was found in the Nile River, fully dressed, with no apparent injuries, and the body was transferred to Imbaba General Hospital.

He added that by signing a medical examination on the body of the Nile girl, with the knowledge of the health inspector, he stated that the cause of death was asphyxia by drowning, and that there was no criminal suspicion, and the body was published with its descriptions.

He explained that on November 8, the girl's father attended and identified the body, and decided that it was his absent daughter, "Shahd," stressing that she was suffering from mental illness "obsessive-compulsive disorder", and was treated by a psychiatrist in Ismailia, and a report of her absence had previously been drawn up in a third Ismailia police station.
The story had topped the communication sites in Egypt during the past few days, and everyone believed that the girl had been kidnapped and killed.
