Good news about the end of the Corona pandemic

Amid warnings from the World Health Organization about the possibility of controlling the Covid-19 pandemic this year, the words of the president of the pharmaceutical company “Moderna”, Stefan Bancel, brought good news.

Bancel declared that it is reasonable to assume that the world is nearing the final stages of the Corona pandemic.

In response to a question about the possibility of the Corona pandemic being in its final stages, he said in a press interview, I think this is a reasonable scenario.

He also added that there is an 80% chance that with the evolution of the omicron or SarsCov-2 mutant, the world will see less virulent viruses.

He also explained that the world was lucky that Omicron was not so dangerous, stressing that we still see thousands of people die every day from this mutation.

Also predict the emergence of a more severe boom of the Omicron.

Watch out

These statements came as the World Health Organization warned that the possibility of controlling the Covid-19 pandemic this year is in danger.

The Director-General of the Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said, on Tuesday evening, that the opportunity to control the epidemic by the end of this year still exists, but there is an increased risk that the world is about to miss this opportunity.

Ghebreyesus also warned that the significant increase in the number of mild infections in countries that have reached high levels of vaccine coverage leads to the common saying that the pandemic is over, while there are still many regions in the world that record very low levels of vaccine coverage and testing, “which provides the conditions for ideal for the emergence of more viral mutations.

116 countries face real danger

The Director-General of the International Organization reminded that 116 countries face a real risk of not reaching the global goal of vaccinating 70% of the population against Covid by the middle of this year, which is the percentage set by experts to reach herd immunity at the global level.

He added that the world urgently needs the support of political leaders to accelerate the distribution of vaccines to all countries of the world, and to provide them with the capabilities and resources needed for immunization campaigns, according to him.
