Shocking news about the fading of the effectiveness of corona vaccines

Since last year, vaccines against the emerging virus have constituted a window of hope to the whole world, as they may put an end to Corona. But it seems that there is a need for a booster dose of vaccines, so receiving only two doses is not enough protection!

In unpleasant and shocking news, researchers in Britain said that the protection provided by receiving two doses of the Pfizer / Biontech and Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccines begins to fade within 6 months, indicating the need to receive booster doses.

over a million

An analysis of data collected by the “Zoe Covid” application company concluded that the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine decreased from 88% a month after receiving the second dose to 74% after five to six months. For the AstraZeneca vaccine, the effectiveness decreased from 77 to 67 percent after four to five months, according to Reuters.

The study was also based on data from more than one million users of the application, and compared the injuries reported by the owners of those who received the vaccine, and the injuries among a group that did not receive the vaccine.

The researchers stated that there is a need for more data for the younger groups because most of the study participants who received the vaccine up to six months before, were elderly, as they were among the groups that had priority in vaccination.

For his part, Tim Spector, the founder of the company and the main researcher in the study, explained that according to the worst scenario, protection may drop to less than 50% for the elderly and medical staff by winter.

"This highlights the need for some action," Spector told BBC television. We cannot just sit back and watch the protection slowly fade away while the infection rate is still high, and the chances of infection are high as well.”

“Refresher Potion” Campaign

Britain and other European countries plan to start a booster-dose vaccination campaign against Covid-19 later this year, after top vaccine advisers said that a third dose of vaccination for the elderly and most vulnerable groups may be necessary from September.

It is noteworthy that an independent British study concluded last week that the effectiveness of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines against the now prevailing Delta strain had weakened within three months, to 75% and 61% from 85% and 68%, respectively.
