Dubai cancels Dubai International Film Festival

News that moviegoers and fans of the seventh art will not be pleased with. It seems that the great annual event that we are eagerly awaiting will not happen this year. The organizing committee of the Dubai International Film Festival announced an important amendment that occurred in the mechanism for the work of the festival, which launched its first sessions in 2004.
Through a press release, the committee confirmed that the festival's new strategy comes within the framework of its efforts to support the process of continuous growth without prejudice to the objectives for which the festival was launched.

The new strategy comes in response to the current changes in the field of filmmaking at the regional and global levels, so it was decided that the festival will be organized periodically every two years, with the next session of the festival being in 2019, emphasizing that the next session will be a milestone in the history of the festival, being The 15th session in the history of the international festival.
For his part, Jamal Al Sharif, Chairman of the Dubai Film and TV Production Committee, stressed that the festival continues its mission to consolidate Dubai's position as a global destination in the film industry and the production of artistic content.

He pointed out that the new strategy and the development of work mechanisms that will follow will maximize the festival's ability to raise the level of its contribution by pushing the franchise rates in this industry locally and regionally, as well as expanding its range of choices for participating businesses and giving it enough time to form partnerships in a thoughtful manner.
Over the past years, the Dubai Festival has shown more than 2000 films, including 500 Arab films, and has had a role in the completion of more than 300 films from the region, and the number of awards has reached more than 200.
