Dior sends a thunderbolt message through its black ensemble

It is not strange for Dior to line its new creative collection with a strong and poignant message. Perhaps most of us have forgotten that black is not a color but rather a lack of colour, and Maria Grazia Chiuri, Creative Director of Dior, chose black as the dominant color in her collection of high-end tailoring for Fall 2019 that came as an expression About a dialogue she wanted to launch, and started it with a question about his campaign, The First Look, which opened this show.

Dior's show began with the only white look included in this collection, which asked, "Is fashion modern?" Are Clothes modern?

This question was previously asked by the Australian-American writer Bernard Rudovsky, who was a contemporary of the founder of Christian Dior. In 1947, he issued an article with the same question titled and dealing with many customs accompanying elegance that are in fact harmful and lack interest and elegance.

He gave an example of this, the shoes with the pointed toe, which alter the shape of the foot and injure it.

With her black ensemble, Currie wanted to prove that comfort doesn't always come at the expense of style. She resorted to geometry, which was one of Rudovsky's favorite subjects, as the basis for her designs through which to prove the correctness of her opinion.

In this context, she says: Our fashion is our first home, we live in it, and it must provide us with comfort. She also wanted to prove that the concept of high-end tailoring never contradicts the search for comfort in the look, and she chose black to erase the element of color and focus on building the look through the story, material and detail.

The Dior show, presented on the second day of Paris Couture Week, was held in the house's historic workshop on Avenue Montaigne30. In the middle of the decoration was a huge tree, while the flowers bloomed in the place to mitigate the dramatic character that accompanied all these black views.

Iconic Dior ball gowns feature wide sleeves as lace transforms into short cocktail dresses or long evening gowns.

The mesh fabric was used as a head accessory at one time, and stockings were decorated with feathers at other times, while the comfortable “gladiators” shoes replaced the high-heeled designs.
