The auction house also revealed that the Qasim family kept some of their personal and confidential letters.

But by and large, this collection of more than 30 letters and note cards illustrates Diana's warm and oh-so-loving disposition in a charming and delightful way.

Some of the letters touch on the tremendous stress she was under during periods of public heartbreak, yet her strength of character, generous disposition, and intelligence shine through.
In one of the letters published by The Times,

Diana apologized to the Qasim family for canceling plans to go to the opera together, writing in the letter dated April 28, 1996:

“I am having a very difficult time and the pressure is serious and it comes from all sides.

Sometimes it's so hard to keep your head up, and today I'm on my knees and I just miss this divorce going through because the potential cost is overwhelming."
Diana also wrote about her isolation and her fears of a wiretap on her phone.

In another letter, dated May 20, 1996, she wrote: “If I had known a year earlier what I was going to experience during this divorce I would never have agreed. It is desperate and ugly.”
