A video clip circulated by social media pioneers of dancing and singing inside a mosque in Egypt sparked widespread anger.
Activists on the communication sites circulated a video of a party inside the Sultan Abu Al-Ela Mosque in Cairo, on the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday, where the video included a musical concert with tambourines and a whirling dance.
The video included singing songs and the attendees swayed with the vocalist, and many of them took pictures and videos of the ceremony.
For its part, the Ministry of Awqaf intervened and decided to stop those responsible for the mosque.
And the ministry announced that, based on a memorandum by the head of the religious sector, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Jumaa, the Minister of Awqaf, decided to suspend Amr Sayed Al-Najjar, the imam of the Sultan Abu Al-Ela Mosque, and Sheikh Ayman Ibrahim Muhammad Abdul Rahman, an inspector in the Bulaq and Zamalek endowments administration. From work until the completion of the investigations at the Ministry’s general office, due to their negligence in their job duties.
