An embarrassing question for New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her Finnish counterpart, Sanna Marin, and a fiery response
A press reporter asked an embarrassing question to New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her Finnish counterpart, Sanna Marin, during a press conference that brought them together in New Zealand, during which he talked about their ageand whether their similarity in age and sex was the reason for their formal meeting.
The journalist said: “Many people will ask if you met just because you are close in age, and you have a lot in common.. What is your response to that?
Ardern, 42, quickly interrupted the reporter, saying, "I wonder if anyone asked former US President Barack Obama and former New Zealand Prime Minister John Key if they had met before because they were the same age?"
For her part, Marin (37 years) said in response to the journalist: “We simply meet together as prime ministers,” noting that their job is to promote economic opportunities for their country, “regardless of any other considerations.”
Marin went to New Zealand, on Wednesday, on the first visit by a Finnish prime minister to the country, accompanied by a Finnish trade delegation, to emphasize the growing trade relations between the two countries.
