Saad Lamjarred from rape to sexual assault

The case of Saad Lamjarred occupied international opinion, and between sympathy and lack of sympathy, the court decided to reduce the charge against the young star from rape to sexual assault “in France” and not “rape”, which was the accusation against him in the beginning.

A young woman had accused Saad Lamjarred of rape at the end of 2016 in Paris.

A trial for Lamjarred will not start before 2020 at the earliest in order to study the request of the complainant, who still insists on prosecuting the singer for rape.

Since the beginning of this case, which enjoys great follow-up in Morocco, he has returned to just several times to occupy the front of the French judicial scene.

The last of these chapters was at the end of August 2018, when he was charged with a third rape accusation, after a young woman filed a complaint after a night out in Saint Tropez (Cote d'Azur).

He was arrested in mid-September before being released on the fifth of December under conditions that force him to reside in Paris during the investigation conducted by the investigative judge in Draguignan (southeast).

The case added to earlier charges brought by two women, which are all being investigated by a Paris judge.

On Tuesday, the judge issued his final decision on the outcome of the investigation, according to lawyers on Friday.
