However, the French doctor sparked widespread controversy in his country and globally, in light of his adherence to this malaria drug, although some studies indicated its ineffectiveness.

In two recent studies published today, Friday, it was found that treating Covid-19 patients with the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine did not have a positive effect and caused other health complications for them.

In the first study, researchers from France monitored 181 hospitalized patients suffering from pneumonia due to corona and who needed oxygen.

And 84 of them were treated with hydroxychloroquine and the rest were not given the drug, but they did not find a significant difference between the results of the two groups.

The authors of the study, which was published in the journal "BMG", said that "hydroxychloroquine is receiving global attention as a potential treatment for Covid-19 due to the positive results of small studies."

They added, "However, the results of this study do not support giving it to patients who are hospitalized and need oxygen."

A second study was also conducted in China, during which 150 patients with the Corona virus were divided into two groups, one of which received hydroxychloroquine.

After four weeks, the tests revealed similar rates of infection in the two groups, with adverse reactions to the treatment even more common in the group that received the drug. The severity or duration of symptoms did not differ between the two groups.
