Assi El-Hellani reveals for the first time his non-Lebanese ancestry

Assi El-Hellani belongs to non-Lebanese origins, as an interview with the artist Assi El-Hellani spread on social media, as part of an episode of the “This is Me” program, which is shown on the “Abu Dhabi” channel.

Assi surprised everyone by talking about his non-Lebanese (origins), which came (in response) to a question about reason His great love for Iraqi folklore and showing it to him in a number of his works.

He said that at the beginning of his artistic career in the early nineties, he presented the Iraqi color, collaborated with Iraqi poets, and sang the Iraqi dialect.
He added that he grew up in a house that loves this color and that curiosity (pushed him) to ask the reason for this, to know that the Al-Halani family goes back to (origins) in Iraq and that they moved to live in Lebanon.

And (pointed out) that his love for the Iraqi color may be linked to the (genetic) factor, noting that the Iraqi heritage is rich in terms of poetry and music.

He added that many of the artworks presented in Lebanon and the Arab region originated from Iraq. And (raised) with this (a wide wave of comments), as most of the followers expressed (astonished) because of the artist’s statement.
