Izzat Abu Auf passes away after suffering from illness

Today, Izzat Abu Auf, who drew a smile on our faces for years, left our world, on Monday morning, the Egyptian artist, Ezzat Abu Auf, at the age of 71, after a great struggle with illness, as he died in a hospital in Cairo, where he stayed for about a month and a half. The body of the late will be circulated from the Sayeda Nafisa Mosque, after the noon prayer, and then it will be buried in the family cemetery, according to what his sister, the artist Maha Abu Auf, confirmed in statements carried by the Egyptian media.

It is noteworthy that the star, Ezzat Abu Auf, was receiving treatment in a hospital in the Mohandessin area.

The artist, Maha Abu Auf, said that she is on her way from Saudi Arabia to Cairo to attend the funeral of her late brother.

For his part, Ashraf Zaki, the captain of the acting professions, confirmed the death of the artist, Ezzat Abu Auf, on Monday morning, after a long struggle with illness, while Ihab Fahmy, a member of the Representative Professions Syndicate, announced the death of the artist Abu Auf at the age of 71.

And Fahmy wrote through his personal account on "Facebook", saying: "The Representative Professions Syndicate mourns the great artist Ezzat Abu Auf."

He added: "He was a model for the respected and virtuous artist, he was a symbol of Egyptian art and will remain, may God have mercy on the deceased and inspire his family and audience patience and solace."

Abu Auf was waiting for the completion of filming the movie “Happy New Year” with the star Tamer Hosni, and filming the series “Bel Hob Hanadi” with the artist Samira Ahmed.

The late artist participated in more than 100 artistic works, whether cinema, drama or theater, and left a large imprint in all of these works, as he was not satisfied with acting, but excelled in presenting programs, and worked as a broadcaster in a group of talk shows with artists besides acting. He also set the soundtrack for a lot of artwork.

Abu Auf was born in a musical house, as his father was the well-known composer Ahmed Shafiq Abu Auf, the former dean of the Institute of Arab Music, and obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, but his passion for music and art was too strong to resist.

He started his artistic career at the end of the sixties through some of the bands he joined, and others he helped establish before he formed with his sisters Mona, Maha, Manal and Mervat a singing group called (4M), which achieved great success that lasted about 12 years.

His cinematic debut came with a small role in the 1992 movie "Ice Cream in Glim" directed by Khairy Beshara and starring Amr Diab.

He headed the Cairo International Film Festival for several years, and he has a daughter who works in the field of directing, Maryam Abu Auf
