The month of fasting is almost over and we still read every day about wrong eating habits that cause us severe troubles that affect our fasting hours the next day.

Among these bad eating habits, Dr. Assem Abu Arab, Professor of Poisons Department at the Egyptian National Research Center, warned him through a medical bulletin, where he warned against eating fast food in Ramadan.

Dr. Assem Abu Arab explained that fast food is a term describing food that is prepared quickly and easily, so that it saves time and effort, such as different types of meat, the most important of which are burgers, hot dogs, sausage, liver, and shawarma of both kinds, as well as fried potatoes, in addition to various types of sandwiches, soft drinks and industrial fruit juices. The most important characteristic of these foods is their high content of fat, sodium, sugars and calories.

The researcher advised the National Research Center to stay away from these meals after long hours of fasting, because they cause indigestion in addition to raising the level of cholesterol in the blood and getting used to these foods would lead to an increase in weight, obesity, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, etc., and breakfast. Or suhoor on these meals may lead to sleep disturbances and anxiety, in addition to digestive disorders and food poisoning that may result from eating unhealthy or contaminated foods and the accompanying symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and others.

He stressed the need to avoid such foods and rely on eating foods that benefit the body with the necessary nutrients such as vegetables, fresh meat and grains, in addition to fruits, and it is possible to prepare these meals in a healthy way such as grilling meat instead of frying it, and the healthy thing is meant for shawarma and burgers without oils or fats.
It is advised to stay completely away from grilling meat of all kinds on charcoal, as exposing it to direct flame resulting from charcoal results in incomplete burning that would generate some hydrocarbon compounds that focus on meat, and these compounds, some of which were classified with a group of compounds that have carcinogenic effects.
