Anger in Turkey after broadcasting the Bella Chow song instead of the call to prayer at the time of the afternoon prayer
In a statement, the Grand Mufti of the Turkish city of Izmir announced the start of an investigation into the broadcast of the Italian song “Bella Ciao” in the minarets of Izmir mosques simultaneously.
According to the Anadolu Agency, this statement came a day after the spread of videos on social networks showing the hacking of the central call to prayer system and broadcasting the song “Bella Chow” through loudspeakers in the minarets of mosques.
The statement said: “At approximately five o’clock in the evening in different areas of Izmir Province, unknown persons hacked the central call to prayer system.
In this regard, I submitted a complaint to the law enforcement authorities for an investigation into the incident.”

And local sources, according to what Turkish media reported, suggested that hackers caused this penetration. The statement continued: “The Izmir Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident against lawbreakers and those who expressed their support for this provocation in social networks.”
