The art of etiquette in words
In general, etiquette revolves around self-respect, respect for others and good dealing with them. It reflects behavioral and social etiquette, tact and the art of dealing with situations, and its reference is the human culture that does not differ from one country to another.
Also, the benign behavior that we always follow brings positive results in any situation, especially in the so-called art of speech….
1- The age factor:
The speaker must take into account the age of the speaker he is sitting with. If the person is older than you, you must give him the opportunity to speak first and not interrupt him. Also, the topics must be selected according to the age of the speaker, because each age has its own peculiarities.
2- tone of voice:
It is very important in the art of etiquette to choose the appropriate tone of voice while avoiding as much as possible the loud sound because it gives a bad impression on the person, especially laughing out loud is not acceptable in the art of etiquette.
3- Talking at the dining table while eating:
Not to engage in sharp discussions, but rather to talk about interesting topics, while avoiding talking while eating, or at least placing a hand over the mouth while talking.
4- The art of listening:
The speaker must be tactful in his speech, but in return he must also be a good listener and give the other the opportunity to express his opinion without interrupting him, even if he disagrees with him in opinion.
The most tactful speaker is a good listener
5- Do not say to the one who made a mistake (You are wrong..) but say: (You may be right, but I think.) …
6- Do not resort to artificiality:
Speaking and acting requires effort and concentration.. Like using words you have recently learned and wish to use, or some physical movements, or using words in various languages, such as saying an English word, an Arabic word, a French word.
7- Avoid talking about yourself, your exploits, your health or your illness.
8 If the discussion revolves around a topic far from your knowledge or culture, it is polite to listen and it is smart to try to pay attention to it and understand it.
9 - Be humble in your speech and ask permission to take the word.
10- Do not whisper in anyone's ear while you are in a group
11- Do not exchange glances with some of the attendees in which they wink at others
12- Do not say (he) or (she) about a third person present among the speakers
13- Do not flatter and do not be one of the lying flatterers
14- Practice praise and thanksgiving with a lot of politeness and decency.
