In Japan, a graduation ceremony for students remotely using a robot
Due to the outbreak of the Corona virus, students could not attend their graduation ceremony but this was not a problem for Business Breakthrough University in Tokyo.
The university held a graduation ceremony for its students using robots that represent students to avoid gatherings. She said she hopes her innovative approach will become a model for educational institutions across the country looking to avoid large gatherings.
The university has resorted to robots representing students who can control them from their homes to hold the graduation ceremony.
The robots, called "Numi", developed by ANA, wore hats and robes for the graduation ceremony with digital panels showing the students' faces.
One student says, “When I joined the university, I never imagined that I would control a virtual robot to receive my degree. I think it is a really unusual experience to receive the certificate in a public place while I am in a private space.”
