Limited timepieces from the Heritage Corum Lab 01 series have been revealed.

The first two models of the Heritage Corum Lab 01 series feature a barrel-shaped case made entirely of black DLC. A rare occurrence in modern watchmaking: the caliber driving these two Heritage Corum Lab 01 series watches is a “shape movement”, i.e. a movement made to fit the size of the case, in contrast to a round movement which is housed in a differently shaped case, which, for the purpose of technical ease, It is the way the vast majority of watches are made. Here, the caliber and case are closely intertwined, one pouring into the circumference of the other

Corum has chosen a cut-out dial that allows viewing the skeletonized CO 410 caliber that fits snugly in the case size. The dial has been reduced to its simpler expression and is made of gray anthracite enhanced with either red or white, depending on the version. Enthusiasts will also notice the small rotor, visible from the dial side, which features a contemporary spiral finish to accentuate the effect of "speed" when it starts to spin.

Jerome Bayard explains: “These are two models that exemplify our bewildering approach to watchmaking, as evidenced by the juxtaposition of Heritage and Lab. In traditional high-end watchmaking, the two concepts have never been associated with each other. Heritage looks to the past and Lab looks to the future. The fundamental principle that we are instilling through Heritage Corum Lab 01 is precisely the creation of a dialogue between these two.
