Corona and the accusation of depression

A new, surprising, heavy-caliber study showed, and contradicted all previous analyzes and studies, indicating that the Corona pandemic did not affect the mental health of most people, specifically depression or anxiety.

The report analyzed 137 studies from around the world and found that, in general, people's mental health did not show significant changes before and after the worst pandemic known to mankind.

The researchers said that the effects of Corona on mental health are not far from those resulting from people’s exposure to a tsunami, for example, according to the “Science Alert” website.

The researchers also analyzed studies conducted between 2018 and 2019, before China first reported its first coronavirus outbreak to the World Health Organization, and compared those findings to studies conducted on the same groups of people in 2020 or later.

No symptoms

They found that most changes in mental health symptoms, which included symptoms of depression and anxiety, were close to zero and not statistically significant.

It also found that among general population studies, it found no changes in general mental health or symptoms of anxiety, noting that there was very little worsening of depressive symptoms.

It is noteworthy that the first year of the Corona pandemic increased global anxiety and depression rates by a whopping 25%, according to the World Health Organization.
