Do not reduce your carbohydrate intake, or death!!!!

An American study reported that those who reduce their intake of carbohydrates may increase their risk of early death if they stack meat and cheese in their dishes instead of vegetables and nuts.

Although previous research has linked low-carb diets to success in short-term weight loss and an improvement in risk factors for early death such as diabetes, there is little information about the long-term results of carbohydrate reduction or what foods to eat as an alternative. For better health.

In the new study, researchers followed more than 15 adults between the ages of 45 and 65 over a period of approximately 25 years. And 6283 people died during this period.

The researchers also reported in The Lancet Public Health that the risk of death from various causes decreased for participants who got between 50 and 55 percent of their calories from carbohydrates during the study period compared to those who ate much less or much more carbohydrates.

The results varied greatly with the different types of food the participants ate instead of carbohydrates.

For her part, Sarah Seidelman, of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, said: "Low-carb diet patterns that replace carbohydrates with animal-source protein or fat are associated with a greater risk of death, while the opposite occurs when the energy provided by carbohydrates is replaced with protein or fat of plant source. “.

"The main message of this study is that focusing on reducing carbohydrates alone is not enough, but instead focus on the types of food that replace them," Seidelmann noted in an email.
